What is the Leading Light Award?

The Kraft Foods Leading Edge Leading Light Award was created to help celebrate the remarkable breadth of talent working in the food and grocery industry, and to give recognition to those individuals that have gone the extra mile.

Not only do candidates get industry-wide recognition for their achievements, the three lucky finalists will also be invited attend the IGD Food Industry Awards as the guests of our sponsor where our overall winner will be presented with their trophy and cheque for £2,000.

Entrants could be those who have:

  • Championed a work initiative that has stretched and challenged their technical knowledge
  • Taken on a difficult project knowing that they will have to develop their own personal skills to make it happen
  • Gone above and beyond their normal daily role to help a colleague develop themselves and achieve success

See some examples of past shortlisted entries here.

How to enter?

Stage One – Just fill in this form, submitting a short summary of why you should win and contact details of a supporter (e.g. your manager or team leader). You may then be invited to proceed to stage two.

You can now fill out the form on our website! Click here.

Stage Two – If you get through to stage two, we will then ask you to expand on the details of your entry and at this point, your supporter will also be asked to add their comments about your achievement.

A shortlist of candidates will be profiled on a dedicated webpage on the Leading Edge website and our members will be encouraged to cast their vote for who they think should be in the final stage. From your full entry, supporter's comments and the online voting, our judges will determine who the finalists will be.

All short-listed candidates will be invited to attend our fabulous Kraft Foods Leading Light Reception, which will follow our Annual Convention. This is when our sponsor will announce the finalists.

Stage Three – Our finalists will then be invited to attend a judging day to present their achievement in person. All finalists will also be guests of our sponsor at the prestigious  IGD Food Industry Awards 2012, when our overall winner will be announced and presented with their trophy and £2000 prize money onstage before some of the biggest names in the industry.
